Canadian Immigration Lawyers in Scarborough & Toronto

Canadian immigration is one of the most rule-driven areas of law: the right program, the right documents, in the right order, at the right time. Small errors lead to long delays and refusals; well-prepared applications are usually approved without difficulty. We assist clients across Toronto, Scarborough and the GTA with permanent residence, work permits, study permits, sponsorships, citizenship and inadmissibility.

Permanent residence

  • Express Entry — covering the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Canadian Experience Class and Federal Skilled Trades Program. Profile optimization (language, ECA, additional points) often moves clients into the Invitation to Apply range.
  • Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) — including the Employer Job Offer, Human Capital Priorities and Masters Graduate streams.
  • Family-class sponsorship — for spouses, common-law and conjugal partners, dependent children, parents and grandparents.
  • Humanitarian and Compassionate applications and refugee claims.

Work and study permits

We prepare LMIA-supported work permits, LMIA-exempt permits under international agreements such as CUSMA (formerly NAFTA), intra-company transfers, post-graduation work permits and bridging open work permits. For students, we assist with study permit applications, off-campus work eligibility, and transitions to post-graduation work and permanent residence.

Citizenship

Permanent residents who meet the 1,095-day physical-presence requirement (within the last five years), have met their personal income tax obligations, and meet language and knowledge requirements are eligible to apply for Canadian citizenship. We assist with the application, citizenship test preparation, and interview representation where issues arise.

Inadmissibility and appeals

Criminal inadmissibility, medical inadmissibility, misrepresentation findings and refused applications all have well-defined remedies — including Temporary Resident Permits, Rehabilitation applications, Authorization to Return to Canada and appeals to the Immigration Appeal Division. Acting early is critical: the wrong move at the border or in a refusal letter often costs months.

Why work with a lawyer rather than a consultant?

Both lawyers and licensed consultants can represent clients before IRCC and the IRB. Lawyers add the ability to represent you in Federal Court (for judicial review of refusals) and to advise on the criminal, family and corporate dimensions that often intersect with immigration files. Book a consultation — we'll assess your eligibility and lay out a clear, step-by-step plan.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does Express Entry take?
Standard processing once an ITA is received is approximately 6 months, but timelines vary by program and country.
Can I sponsor a spouse who's outside Canada?
Yes β€” overseas spousal sponsorship is available, alongside the inland option for spouses already in Canada with valid status.
